Knowledge Center (Waltham) Junior Analyst
Overview: The Junior Analyst (JA) program provides
an avenue for recent
University graduates to enter into McKinsey’s Business Research track. The
JA focuses on assisting teams with the sourcing and analysis of facts to help
solve specific business problems. To that end, Junior Analysts are
responsible for collecting, summarizing, analyzing, and synthesizing facts
that serve as critical inputs to client service or McKinsey engagement teams.
Junior Analysts are expected to develop a good knowledge of key sources.
JAs will contribute to building a distinctive service culture and community
spirit.
The primary job responsibility for Junior Analysts is client service team
support, which is described below. After approximately one year, the Junior
Analyst is expected to transition to the position of Analyst.
Detailed Description:Client service team support is the primary
responsibility
of this role. As a Junior Analyst, you will work with CSS to articulate,
scope, and prioritize their research needs. With guidance from more senior
colleagues, you will determine the most appropriate, cost-effective, and
timely research solutions to meet the team’s needs. You will efficiently
gather the necessary raw information, partnering with R&I colleagues to
leverage the full range of relevant sources inside and outside of the Firm.
You will then organize, analyze, and synthesize facts into targeted, McKinsey
formatted end products. These end products can be in the form of single
exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs, and spreadsheets.
Desired Skills:
Junior Analysts
must demonstrate good intrinsic skills – indicating high
potential on the Business Research track – as well as a strong academic
background and some relevant research experience. In general, the ideal
candidates for this role will also be entrepreneurial self-starters who enjoy the
challenges and rewards of research work in a dynamic and changing
environment, and who enjoy contributing to a start-up organization and
making it successful. Specifically, candidates will demonstrate:

Background/Training:
¶ Education. An undergraduate degree from a respected institution
and a
record of strong academic achievement are required. Demonstrated
analytical skills.
¶ Previous experience. Demonstrated research experience in an
academic or business setting is preferred.
